After some additional thinking about the proposed hike around Wachusett Mountain, we have elected instead to enjoy our hike a little closer to home.
We are not abandoning the idea of Wachusett altogether, but are instead moving it to a May/June time frame. Doing so should allow our Scouts (and adults) a little bit of time to hike other, easier, terrain first.
To that end, the plan for Saturday, October 8th is to meet at Trout Brook in Holden (320 Manning Street [map below]) at 8:30 am for some hiking around the property (there are many trails). This will also give our newer families some insight into the place we are planning to use for an overnight experience in the winter.
Our hiking should conclude by 10:00 so that families may still make good use of the weekend :)
This hike is an opportunity for Scouts to bring along their hiking sticks or to earn one if it's their first hike! Be sure to let us know if you're coming so we are certain to have enough for everyone.
